FLUX + FLOATFlux and Float is a substrative system of units that work together to create a new artificial mass. The system floats on top of flooded coastal regions of the NY Metropolis and other affected sites. This topographical substrate is slow moving and constantly in motion. It floats on the waves of the sea and can shift up or down to react to the water. It can rise and or lower in certain areas in order to create pools for fishing or other needs. Within the substrate there are three major zones of program. The first begin an ultra flexible, dwelling or inhabitable zone. Secondly, some of the units are designed to be hollow, in which they have a direct connection to the marine ecology bellow. These units will provide inhabitation for this ecology as well as providing opportunity for fish farming and water irrigation to the system above. Lastly, there is a buffer zone between the marine and human inhabitation, that of the soft vegetation or mangrove zone. The system is meant to work together to become a self sufficient and sustainable city.
